Client Development – Sports Practice

Michael Ropp joined the DI Sports Practice in the summer of 2017 as a business development rep and is focused on growing DI’s partnership opportunities in both the professional and collegiate markets.

Michael enjoys learning how institutions and organizations use their facilities to attract recruits, celebrate achievements, and integrate sponsor exposure to enhance the experience in the facility, while leveraging DI’s turn key design build and technology capabilities as a resource for future renovations and new builds.

Before DI, Michael spent the 2017 NFL off season interning with the Kansas City Chiefs in their corporate partnerships and suite services department. Prior to the Chiefs, he spent two years as the ticket sales and operations graduate assistant for UMKC athletics while pursuing his master’s degree. During his undergraduate years, Michael spent 4 years as a group sales representative for the University of Iowa Athletic Department.

A native Iowan, Michael graduated from the University of Iowa in 2015 with a degree in sport and recreation management, and completed his master’s degree in higher education with an emphasis in athletic administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2017.

Michael is an active member on the Kansas City Sports Commission’s Emerging Leaders Board, and participates as a “big brother” with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City.
