Bringing a Deep Bench to the Collegiate Sports Practice

EXPANDING STRATEGICALLY

Since opening in Kansas City 23 years ago, Dimensional Innovations has specialized in creating, designing, and building the latest in experiential environments for big brands across the country and abroad. With a cross section of 200+ creative professionals located in its 70,000-square-foot facility,

DI has a deep bench in branding, design, technology, fabrication, and innovation.

Last year, Dimensional Innovations experienced explosive growth, hiring additional talent and adding a 65,000-square-foot facility set to open later this month. This growth is driven in part from the increased demand for storytelling in the corporate and entertainment markets, but also to the strong demand for new college and university athletic facilities.

The experience I’ve gained working in architecture over the last eight years has been unbelievably rewarding, but I wanted to make a change and take on a more active role in the project delivery process. DI shares my passion for fan and user behaviors, and creating experiences that enhance the fan journey.

PROVEN LEADERSHIP

“A major part of the company’s business comes from teams, leagues, and conferences as well as other segments of the professional sports marketing industry. With the opportunities we have seen in the collegiate markets, we needed a proven thought leader that understands the needs of our clients along with a strong integrated background in architecture, engineering, planning, and design. Drew Berst brings that deep bench of experience and passion to our team as we build our collegiate game-day portfolio,” said Justin Wood, Principal and Sports Practice Director.

Berst spent three years as the Director of Business Development–Sports, at AECOM, a Fortune 500 global engineering and architecture firm, where he worked on projects for college football, basketball and baseball. “Beyond Drew’s working experience, he has a lifelong association and passion with athletics,” Wood said in a statement. “He’s worked with dozens of NCAA Division I athletic departments and brings a real understanding of the challenges they face. His big ideas and entrepreneurial spirit are evident in the intellectual properties that he has developed.”

ELEVATING THE DESIGN

Building a competitive collegiate sports program has taken on a new definition in the last decade. In response to the changing environment, Berst recognizes the need for branded social spaces. Many of his ideas re-define outdoor pre-game and post-game areas. By consolidating a connected and energetic game day experience with the comforts and amenities of home, Berst has created a formula for unforgettable experiences that include a proprietary, elevated tailgating environment ideal for collegiate game-day experiences.

Dimensional Innovations is thrilled to bring Drew Berst’s passion for fan and brand experience on-board. “I look forward to the opportunity, and to having a more hands-on approach — Ultimately impacting the experience of student-athletes, fans, administrators, and operators, inside and outside university and collegiate athletic facilities,” said Berst.
