On Friday, June 10 the University of Kansas School of Business along with KU’s Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance, Andrea Hudy, hosted “The Business of Sports: Brand Matters” with over 200 attendees. The event took place in the brand new Capitol Federal Hall.

KU Head Basketball Coach, Bill Self, kicked off the morning with great insights on the intricacies of brand development and why it matters. Other keynotes included: Ted Leland, Director of Athletics at the University of Pacific; Cliff Illig, Vice Chairman of Cerner and Owner of Sporting Kansas City; Phil Wagner, CEO and Founder of Sparta Science; and Holly Rowe, Sports Journalist at ESPN.

The panelists spoke further to several points made by the keynotes, providing unique perspectives. “The sport of business is all about relationships,” said Asher Johnson, Creative Director at Dimensional Innovations, summarizing a key theme throughout the day.

Attendees shared their photos and thoughts on Twitter using #KUBizSports16.
