Abstract:

Sprint’s sponsorship presence in the new outfield complex of the recently renovated Kauffman Stadium needed to be multifaceted. It, of course, needed to exude Sprint brand, but it had other needs as well. The installation was designed to give back to the Royals, give back to the KC fans, and at the same time, collect valuable data for Sprint marketing purposes.

Ultimately, the project developed into the Sprint/ Royals Photo-Op Kiosk. This un-manned photo booth instructs users to interface with a device that photographs them in real time with the stadium home plate as their backdrop. After inputting email and contact information into the touchscreen, they are immediately emailed a copy of their image, in customized baseball card format. The instant gratification received by smart phone carriers has been tremendous, and has proven to be a strong draw to today’s experience driven consumer. During a busy game, the device will typically throughput and capture data of over 120 visitors.
